When couples dream of a destination wedding in Jamaica, they often picture turquoise waters, golden sunsets, and an unforgettable celebration with their favorite people. Carly and Tamar's destination wedding at Azul Beach Resort Negril by Karisma was exactly that.
As a DC-based destination wedding photographer, one of my favorite parts of destination weddings is getting to spend an entire weekend with my couples and their loved ones. Rather than documenting just the wedding day, I get to capture the full experience and all the moments that make it so meaningful.
A Perfect Jamaican Wedding Day
Carly and Tamar woke up to bright sunshine and beautiful Caribbean weather. They chose to skip a first look, so we prioritized separate family portraits and wedding party photos before the ceremony while preserving the excitement of seeing each other for the first time down the aisle.
For Carly's getting-ready photos, I intentionally blended natural window light with direct flash to create images that felt both timeless and editorial. Tamar stepped outside for portraits around the resort, taking advantage of the tropical scenery and beautiful light.
A Beachfront Ceremony Overlooking the Caribbean Sea
Their ceremony took place right on the beach with the crystal-clear waters of Negril creating the perfect backdrop. Surrounded by family and friends who traveled to celebrate with them, Carly and Tamar exchanged their vows in one of the most beautiful settings Jamaica has to offer.
After the ceremony, guests immediately welcomed the newlyweds with hugs, cheers, and celebration. We captured candid moments, family portraits, and romantic portraits of the two of them together before a tropical rainstorm rolled through the resort.
While guests enjoyed cocktail hour, we documented the atmosphere and excitement as everyone embraced a little island weather.
A Tropical Rainstorm & Stunning Sunset
As quickly as the rain arrived, it disappeared. When we headed back outside, we were greeted with an incredible Jamaican sunset. Dramatic rain clouds lingered in the distance while golden light glowed across the horizon, creating the perfect backdrop for portraits. To make the moment even better, Carly and Tamar decided to get into the water together, resulting in some of my favorite images from the entire day.
Ending the Night in Celebration
After cooling off and changing outfits, they joined their family and friends for an intimate reception dinner. The evening was relaxed and heartfelt, complete with meaningful toasts, a beachside fire show, and an after-party at the resort's club and bar.
From their beachfront ceremony at Azul Beach Resort Negril to sunset portraits in the Caribbean Sea, Carly and Tamar's wedding was the perfect blend of romance, adventure, and celebration.
